Holly Chambers
Board Member (RN)
I chose to study nursing and live in Regina directly after high school. Delighted to be accepted to the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus, I completed my degree in 2008. General surgery/acute care nursing ran parallel with my interest in health policy, self-regulation and leadership in nursing from day one of the Nursing Education Program of Saskatchewan.
Ten years into my career a dangerous situation involving weapons occurred while providing patient care. This activated a mental health crisis that lead to a diagnosis of C-PTSI (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Injury). With support from so many, I have enjoyed wellness and meaningful employment at Health Line 811.
I was a board member with the former Mental Health Professional Practice Group (MHPPG) that was supported by the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS). Future goals include a Masters in Nursing and using my voice to champion prevention of Occupational Stress Injuries such as PTSI. Leadership opportunities such as the APNS provide an incredible avenue to advocate for the profession and I am proud to be an interim board member RN representative.
